Starting a blog is something I’ve been toying with for a while now, once I left college and knew I loved food a little too much. I wanted to make a blog so that I could experiment with food and my parents not give me death stares as I serve up questionable dished because its for the “blog”.
I started the instagram first, that was the easy part. Taking pictures of all the food I was eating and posting it somewhere I could keep forever, even if I throw my phone in the toilet.
After dropping out of Uni I knew there was something else out there for me, so I went and took a leap of faith, and started Le Cordon Bleu. This was by far the best decision of my life, I had the best time, I grew in confidence and my cooking skills got somewhat better. Doing both the Pat and Cuisine was a hard 9 months, I had many a burn, cuts and breakdowns (literally blood sweat and tears) but what a time. My big hang up was my confidence, I was one of the youngest, I had zero experience, I just knew I loved it- and sometimes that’s enough I guess.I’m hoping the things I’ve learnt I can replay on this blog.
I was lucky enough to do some travelling after college, Asia was the big one because… the FOOD. Its crazy. Being someone who has always loved food, I always thought I had a massive pallet and was wiling to try most food put in front of me, Asia however was a level id never be able to reach in London.
By far the food that changed me was in Vietnam. On my instagram I would write somewhat gushing posts about how good it was, and to be honest couldn’t wait until I was back in my kitchen to recreate. But life runs away with you, and all of a sudden its 9 months later and I’ve experimented a little but mostly with cakes- which is very much not Vietnamese cooking.
So that’s the point of this blog, this blog is to push me to keep my cooking going, sometimes food from around the world, sometimes my own experimental dishes, just to keep the love alive. And hopefully inspire a few of you to cook with me, to try with me and get some bloody good food out of it!
Surprisingly enough talking about my love for cooking and food has been easier than writing about “How to kill a Mockingbird” at school, so let the blogging commence!
Hope you enjoy this as much as i am making it.
